How To Save Battery Life On iPhone

It is very hard to exist without a mobile phone nowadays, and with so much of our life contained inside these tiny devices, you do not want to run out of batteries when you need them the most.

If you are an iOS user, you already know how exhausting it can be to complain about your battery life, especially if you do not own the latest models that guarantee a better battery life.

To help you keep your iOS phone running for as long as possible, see 10 Tips To Save Battery Life On iPhone.

1. Enable Low Power Mode:

One of the best ways to avoid a quick battery drain is Low Power Mode. Once activated, your device only performs the most essential of tasks, and background activities like downloads and mail viewing will be disabled.

Low Power Mode automatically kicks in when the battery falls below 20%, however, you can enable it manually to keep your phone going for longer. Just head to Settings: > Battery: > Low Power Mode: and toggle it on. When enabled, the battery icon in the top-right corner will turn yellow.

2. Adjust Screen Brightness:

As you already know, mobile phone screens are bigger and brighter nowadays, however, these sharp displays keeping you awake at night actually kill your battery life faster. The amazing news is that they can be dimmed seamlessly.

To make that happen, before anything else, activate auto-brightness by heading to Settings: > Accessibility: > Display & Text Size: > Auto-Brightness: and toggling it on. Your device will then adjust its brightness according to your present lighting situation. If you have enough light to see, the display will turn itself down to save battery.

Users can even adjust brightness levels manually. Just head to Settings > Display & Brightness by using the slider bar. A slider is also available through the Control Center, simply press lightly on the brightness icon and move the slider up or down.

3. Disable Location Services:

As you must already know, location services are useful for apps like Google Maps or Yelp, but those GPS pings are bad for your battery. To avoid battery drain, simply disable location services completely through Settings: > Privacy: > Location Services: and your device will stop feeding location data to these services.

Be aware that this will affect lots of useful weather and Google applications on your phone. However, Apple thought it wise to allow you to personalize how most apps use location data: Never, While Using the App, or Always.

If you choose “While Using the App” for Google Maps, for instance, the application will only ping your location when you launch it, not in the background.

4. Disable Background App Refresh:

If you are not aware, when you close an iOS app, it keeps running for a bit until it enters a suspended state. However, with Background App Refresh, these suspended apps can still check for updates and new content, thereby draining your battery. To prevent that, simply disable Background App Refresh completely or do it for specific apps.

To make that happen, head to Settings: > General: > Background App Refresh:. Tap Background App Refresh to disable it or allow it to happen only over Wi-Fi.

5. Reduce Notifications:

If your screen lights up every single time you receive a notification, be aware that your power will be drained every time you receive a text, breaking news alert, or Twitter notification. Reducing these notifications will help you preserve your battery and sanity.

To do that, head to Settings: > Notifications: and edit how, when, and where specific apps will show notifications.

6. Switch To Airplane Mode:

This mode simply turns off all your phone’s wireless features, and you will be unable to receive calls or view texts. However, you can still connect to Wi-Fi if compulsory for iMessages and other tasks. This saves your iPhone battery and you can make it happen by looking for the airplane icon in the Control Center and tapping it. You’ll know it is activated by the airplane icon on the top right.

7. Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, And AirDrop:

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and AirDrop are amazing features to use on your smartphone, but they help to drain your battery faster than you would want. There is really no reason for your WiFi, Bluetooth, and AirDrop to be active at all times, so it is best to keep them disabled till they are absolutely needed.

The fastest fix is disabling these services under the Control Center. Simply tap the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth icons to turn them off. Press down slightly on the menu options in the top left to view the AirDrop icon.

You can also head to Settings > Wi-Fi, Settings > Bluetooth, and Settings > General > AirDrop > Receiving Off to turn them off.

8. Turn Off Siri Suggestions:

As you already know, Siri makes suggestions based on your activity. If you drink coffee regularly, for instance, Siri might suggest your order around the time you normally place it. This is cool, but Siri is doing some background work to make this happen and your battery suffers for it.

To disable, head to Settings: > Siri & Search:. Under Siri Suggestions, you can activate or disable them in search, on the lock screen and home screen, or while sharing.

9. Kill Active Listening:

A lot of new iOS and iPadOS devices support hands-free Siri, meaning, users can say “Hey, Siri” and ask a question without having to touch their iPhone. However, this tells you that your phone is always awaiting your command while using up vital battery resources.

If you know this feature is not necessary, turning off active listening can help with battery drain. Head to Settings: > Siri & Search:, where you can deactivate “Listen for Hey Siri.

You can leave “Press Side Button for Siri” enabled to call Apple’s assistant with the push of a button.

10. Disable Automatic App Updates:

It makes sense to keep your apps and operating system up to date, but the process can drain your battery in ways you will not appreciate. To avoid this, head to Settings: > App Store: > App Updates: and toggle it off.
